The NCC’s formation in 1948 marked a significant step in shaping the youth of India into future leaders with qualities like initiative, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility. While its primary aim is to contribute to the armed forces by nurturing potential recruits, the NCC also strives to groom leaders across various sectors and instill a sense of defense consciousness among the youth.
With its vast membership of 13 lakhs students, the NCC stands as the most well-organized and prominent youth organization in the nation. Its role extends beyond military training to encompass activities that foster national integration, such as organizing All India Camps where youth from different states come together. Additionally, the NCC provides diverse training opportunities, including mountaineering, skiing, flying, gliding, paratrooping, and boat pulling, alongside elementary military training.
In commemoration of the NCC’s Silver Jubilee, the P & T Department is pleased to release a stamp dedicated to the youth of the country, recognizing the pivotal role of the NCC in shaping the character and capabilities of India’s future leaders.
