Life and Contribution

B.N. Sircar was an eminent Indian Bengali film producer and one of the pioneering figures of Indian cinema. In 1931, he founded the legendary New Theatres, Calcutta, which went on to become one of the most influential film studios in India.

Under his leadership, New Theatres produced several landmark films and nurtured some of the greatest talents in Indian film history—directors, actors, technicians, and music composers who shaped the golden era of Bengali and Hindi cinema.
