Bhanumathi Ramakrishna was a pioneering figure in Indian cinema—an actress, singer, music director, writer, and filmmaker whose versatile genius earned her the title “Ashtavadhani.” She is celebrated as the first female superstar of Telugu cinema and a towering personality in the South Indian film industry, including Tamil cinema.
Her exceptional talent and multifaceted contributions were recognised with some of India’s highest civilian honours. She received the Padma Shri in 1966 and the Padma Bhushan in 2003, underscoring her remarkable impact on arts and culture.
Commemoration
