AGRIEXPO 77, hailed as the largest national agricultural exposition ever, is set to take place at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from November 13 to December 13, 1977. Agriculture, being the largest and most widespread industry in India, provides employment opportunities for over three-fourths of the population. It contributes nearly 50% to the national income and sustains a significant portion of India’s export trade.
AGRIEXPO 77 aims to showcase the rural sector comprehensively, shedding light on all its aspects and offering insights into its various dimensions. The core of the exposition comprises displays organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, highlighting agricultural practices, research in agricultural sciences, fertilizers, chemicals, improved seed varieties, and more.
Various participants, including state governments, central ministries and departments, trade promotion bodies, firms, undertakings, and four foreign countries—Afghanistan, Hungary, Japan, and the U.S.S.R.—will be part of the event. Notable features of the exposition include the Bullock Cart Square and the Rural India Complex.
In commemoration of this significant national event, the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department is pleased to issue a postage stamp.
