The G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation that plays an important role in shaping & strengthening global governance and in working towards
sustainable and balanced global growth.

India took over the Presidency of the G20 on 1 December 2022, and will hold it for a period of one year upto 30 November 2023.

India’s G20 Logo draws inspiration from the vibrant colours of the national flag and juxtaposes planet Earth with the lotus, India’s national flower, reflecting growth amidst challenges. The Earth in the Logo, reflects India’s pro-planet approach to life, one in perfect harmony with nature.

The theme of India’s G20 Presidency – ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ or ‘One Earth · One Family · One Future’, drawn from the ancient Sanskrit text of the Maha Upanishads, affirms
the value of all life – human, animal, plant, and microorganisms – and their interconnectedness in the wider universe. The theme also spotlights LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), with its associated, environmentally sustainable and responsible choices, leading to globally transformative actions resulting in a cleaner, greener future.

Drawing inspiration from India’s G20 theme & Logo, the two stamps commemorate and celebrate the historic period of India’s G20 Presidency and the landmark occasion of G20 Leaders’ Summit, New Delhi.

The first G20 Commemorative Stamp is representative of an India that is diverse, inclusive and has a rich cultural heritage. The golden stamp takes inspiration from India’s national flower, the lotus, and the ‘Mandala’ art forms. The rich gold embodiesthe richness of our culture, our golden history and timeless traditions, whereas the seven petals symbolically represent the seven continents & the coming together of G20 countries. The Stamp represents how the world can draw lessons from India’s uniquely diverse cultural heritage, peaceful coexistence and democratic ethos, in order to work for a mutually bright beneficial future.

The second G20 Commemorative Stamp symbolises togetherness and reflects the collective will of G20 members to achieve inclusive, ambitious, decisive and action-oriented
outcomes under India’s Presidency. The need for a unified, collective leadership by all G20 countries is imperative to achieve shared prosperity and a joint vision of a peaceful, prosperous world. Representing India’s unique mantra of ‘Unity in Diversity’ and the concept of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, the ‘seven hands’ signify seven continents, showcasing the values of togetherness/ unity and inclusivity.

India’s G20 presidency is coming at a time when the world is facing multiple challenges. Amidst these challenges, India’s G20 presidency provides a ray of hope and a platform for meaningful discussions for achieving durable solutions to contemporary global challenges. Against this backdrop, the Commemorative Stamps for India’s G20 Presidency, exhibits the coming together of various G20 countries through this premier multilateral forum, representing hope and regeneration.
