The Indian Coast Guard is India’s marine search and rescue law agency. On 1st February 1977, the Coast Guard was founded by Indian the Indian Act, of 1978. And Indian coast guard works through the Ministry of Defense. and they are works closely with the Indian Navy, Central Police, and State Police. The Indian Navy first installed the Indian Coast Guard to confer marine services to the nation. In 1960, the Indian Economy was threatened by marine smuggling. In August 1971, the committee identified patrolling the vast coastline of India. A registry of underwater fishing vessels was installed to identify illegal activities. And a competent force was installed to stop the ships engaged in unlawful activities.

India had launched a program to get appliances, Which was only till 1973. And started to enrol personnel from the Indian Navy under the provisions of the Maintenace of Internal Security Act. On 31st August 1974, Cabinet action was proposed by the defence Secretary on the recommendation of Admiral Kohli to the Cabinet Secretary. On 31st July 1975, the recommendation was submitted to the Ministry of Defence for the establishment of the India Coast Guard. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi decided to set up the Indian Coast Guard under the Ministry of Defence.
