Sardar Antaji Mankeshwar Gandhe emerged as a visionary leader and torchbearer in his own right. His significant contributions to society, politics and education have left an indelible mark on the people he served and the causes he championed. On this occasion, the Indian Postal Department issued an Indian Stamp in the name of Sardar Antaji Mankeshwar Gandhe India Stamp. Gandhe was raised in a simple family, but he never let his circumstances hinder his pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement. Driven by a thirst for learning, he excelled in his studies and demonstrated natural leadership abilities from an early age. Sardar Antaji Mankeshwar Gandhi’s entry into the political arena marked the beginning of his transformational journey.
In 1754, after the martyrdom of his son, he first opposed to practice of Sati Pratha and issued orders against it. He asked his army ad family to follow those orders. This is an important contribution of Antaji’s vision and ideas. He was honoured with the Saptahazari Mansab by the emperor. He also established his own coat of arms and seal for the administration.
Indian Post is pleased to issue Commemorative Postage Stamp on Antaji Mankeshwar Gandhe on his 261st death anniversary and appreciates his contribution in fight for the motherland against foreign invaders.
