Sreenivasa Iyengar, a former President of the Indian National Congress.

He participated in the non-cooperation movement in 1930 and 1932, defying prohibitory orders and enduring rigorous imprisonment.

- Freedom Fighter: In 1942, following the Congress Working Committee meeting in Bombay where the historic “Quit India” resolution was adopted, Satyamurti was arrested and detained in Amraoti. The privations of jail broke his health, and he died on March 28, 1943, in Madras General Hospital, becoming a martyr for freedom.
