Celebrating the Dreams of Young India

India celebrates Children’s Day on 14th November with great enthusiasm in honour of Jawaharlal Nehru, lovingly called Chacha Nehru by children. The first Prime Minister of India had a deep affection for children and believed that in their bright eyes lay the dreams of a strong, vibrant, and resurgent nation. He regarded children as the true architects of India’s future and firmly believed in nurturing their aspirations.

All India Stamp Design Competition

To commemorate Children’s Day, the India Post organized the All India Stamp Design Competition on the theme “India of My Dreams.” The competition was conducted across the country for school children.

From each Postal Circle (corresponding to States, except the North East), the best three paintings were forwarded for the national-level selection. A Selection Committee chose the first, second, and third prize winners, and their artworks were used for designing the Children’s Day commemorative stamps, First Day Cover (FDC), and brochure.

This year, the top three paintings have been beautifully transformed into a set of three stamps. Additionally, one painting selected from among all groups received the consolation prize and has been featured on the Miniature Sheet and the First Day Cover.

Dreams Reflected in Art

The children’s paintings reflect bold and inspiring visions for the nation. A prominent theme across many artworks is communal harmony, showing how deeply unity and peace resonate with young minds. Other recurring aspirations include India reaching the Moon, universal education, and rapid scientific and economic development—demonstrating their desire to see India emerge as a strong and developed nation.

Through their creativity, children have expressed not only imagination but also hope, responsibility, and national pride.

Commemorative Release

The Department of Posts is proud to release a set of three commemorative postage stamps, along with a Miniature Sheet and First Day Cover, all designed by children to mark Children’s Day—celebrating the dreams, creativity, and vision of young India.
