About The Philatelist
Hi, I’m Jaspreet Kaur.
The Philatelist was born from a simple love for stamps and the stories they tell.
Like many collectors, I started with curiosity. A small collection soon turned into countless hours spent learning about the people, events, places, and achievements captured on tiny pieces of paper. What fascinated me most was that every stamp had a story behind it—sometimes a forgotten chapter of history, sometimes a remarkable individual, and sometimes a glimpse into a country’s culture and heritage.
As my interest in philately grew, I often found myself searching through books, websites, catalogues, and old publications to learn more. While there is a wealth of information available, much of it is scattered across different sources, making it difficult for collectors—especially newcomers—to find what they need.
That’s one of the reasons I created The Philatelist.
This website is my way of giving back to a hobby that has given me so much joy over the years. My goal is simply to create a place where collectors can discover information, explore postal history, learn something new, and hopefully develop a deeper appreciation for philately.
I believe stamps are much more than collectables. They are miniature pieces of history that preserve important moments, celebrate remarkable achievements, and connect us with the past. In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, I feel it is important to keep these stories alive for future generations.
The Philatelist is a community-driven project that celebrates the stories, history, and artistry of stamps. While I continue to research, write, and curate much of the content on this website, I warmly welcome contributions from fellow collectors, researchers, and philately enthusiasts who would like to share their knowledge and experiences through guest blog posts. If you have an interesting story, study, or insight to contribute, I would be delighted to hear from you.
I also occasionally receive technical assistance from my husband, Alok Jain, who helps with the development and maintenance of the website.
Whether you are an experienced collector, someone just starting their philatelic journey, or simply a visitor with an interest in history, I hope you find something here that inspires your curiosity.
Thank you for visiting and for helping keep this wonderful hobby alive.
Happy Collecting!
