Children are the future pillars of every nation, and it’s the solemn duty of every government to ensure their well-being and healthy development. In India, Children’s Day, celebrated on November 14 each year, coincides with the birth anniversary of the beloved advocate for children, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This day serves as a reminder to the state, parents, and teachers of their responsibility towards the nation’s children.
On this Children’s Day, the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department is honored to release a set of two postage stamps featuring children’s paintings. The 25 paisa stamp showcases a painting titled “CATS,” created by 5-year-old Nikur Dilipbhai Mody, while the 100 paisa stamp displays a painting titled “FRIENDS,” crafted by 7-year-old Bhavar Ashish Ramanlal, both from Ahmedabad. These delightful artworks have been reproduced with the courtesy of Shankar’s International Children’s Competition (1976).
