Public Service and Leadership

Morarji Desai held many high offices during his distinguished political career. He served as the Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission during 1966–67. Later, he became the Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the cabinet of Indira Gandhi. He later rose to the highest office and served as the Prime Minister of India.

He was a strong believer in the principle of Swadeshi, encouraging self-reliance and national development. He was closely associated with:

The Department of Posts honoured his memory by issuing a special commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
