Legacy of Education
Education shapes not only individuals but also communities, instilling knowledge, values, and skills that empower generations. With this vision, Sardar School was founded by the Oswal Samaj on 28th August 1896, under the gracious hands of Maharaja Shri Sir Pratap Singh of Jodhpur. What began as a modest academic initiative soon grew into a pioneering institution, dedicated to nurturing bright young minds and serving society through quality education.
Growth and Development
Initially functioning near Sojati Gate, the school later shifted when Maharaja Shri Ummed Singh allotted land at Jalori Gate. He laid the foundation stone of the school building on 13th September 1932. Over the decades, the school flourished, harmonizing with changing times and preparing students for leadership in diverse professional arenas.
To promote holistic growth, the school established the Mahaveer Complex, offering modern sports facilities. The Sardar Sports Academy, one of its unique features in Rajasthan, provides infrastructure for 22 different games, encouraging physical excellence alongside academics.
Embracing Modern Education
In recent years, the school has integrated cutting-edge technology into its curriculum:
- Smart classrooms with interactive boards and video conferencing.
- Wi-Fi enabled computer labs and a digital language laboratory for communication skills.
- Digital library with over 18,000 e-books.
- Digital Maths Lab, Abacus, and Vedic Maths for conceptual clarity.
- Robotics Lab to inspire creativity and innovation.
The institution’s alumni include distinguished judges, lawyers, doctors, engineers, academicians, chartered accountants, industrialists, and professionals who have brought laurels to the school and society.
Milestones of Honour
The Centenary Celebration in 1996 was graced by the then President of India, Shri Shankar Dayal Sharma, along with Shri Bheru Singh Shekhawat, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, and Governor Baliram Bhagat. In 2017, the school was renamed Sardar Doon Public School, embracing modern pedagogy while preserving its legacy.
125 Years of Service
For over 125 years, Sardar School has been a beacon of learning, instilling ethical values and preparing students to become informed, skilled, and responsible citizens of New India. The dedicated contributions of the Oswal Singh Sabha, Oswal Education Committee, teachers, and students have been instrumental in uplifting the prestige of this historic institution.
Commemoration
On the momentous occasion of its 125th anniversary, the Department of Posts is proud to issue a Commemorative Postage Stamp on Sardar School, Jodhpur, honouring its glorious journey and contribution in shaping generations through education.
