Celebrating Innocence, Imagination, and Creativity
Children are among God’s greatest gifts to humanity. Their innocence, purity of thought, and boundless enthusiasm bring joy and meaning to life. Through wide, wonder-filled eyes, children perceive the world with honesty and imagination, discovering magic in everyday moments. For a child, each day reveals a new secret and a new joy, eagerly embraced with curiosity and delight.
Children’s Day is celebrated every year on 14 November, marking the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, affectionately known as Chacha Nehru for his deep love and affection for children.
Children’s Day Stamp Design Tradition
To commemorate Children’s Day each year, the Department of Posts releases special postage stamps designed by children themselves. These stamps are selected through an All India Stamp Design Competition, which encourages young minds across the country to express their creativity through art.
The theme for this year’s competition was “The Magic of the Night”. The contest received an overwhelming response, with entries vividly reflecting the limitless imagination and fantasy that define a child’s perception of the night.
