The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) stands as the central organization representing chambers of commerce, industrial, and trade associations in India. Established in 1927, FICCI boasts a membership of nearly 450 chambers of commerce and trade and industrial associations, along with over 1800 industrial and commercial enterprises, spanning across large, medium, and small sectors. Together with its constituents, FICCI represents approximately one lakh business units, employing over five million individuals.
With a commitment to national objectives such as accelerating economic growth, promoting employment, ensuring the well-being of vulnerable sections of society, and achieving self-reliance, FICCI serves as a crucial link between the government and business entities. It holds formal representation on 90 government advisory boards and committees, facilitating dialogue and cooperation between the public and private sectors.
FICCI actively engages in the country’s socio-economic programs, focusing on initiatives such as creating infrastructure for exports, fostering joint ventures with foreign countries, promoting industrial harmony, and advocating for family planning clinics in industrial areas. Moreover, the Federation conducts research on various socio-economic issues, producing studies and monographs, and organizes seminars, conferences, and workshops to facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange among stakeholders.
Over its fifty-year journey, FICCI has played a significant role in India’s socio-economic transformation, contributing to the nation’s progress and development. In commemoration of its Golden Jubilee, the Posts and Telegraphs Department is honored to release a postage stamp, recognizing the invaluable contributions of FICCI to the advancement of the country’s economic landscape.
