Children are the future custodians of every nation, and it is the solemn duty of every government to prioritize their well-being, ensuring they grow up in healthy and happy conditions. In India, Children’s Day, celebrated annually on November 14, holds special significance as it coincides with the birth anniversary of the beloved advocate for children, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. This day serves as a poignant reminder to the government, parents, and teachers of their collective responsibility towards the nation’s children.
On this auspicious occasion of Children’s Day, the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department is honored to release a set of two postage stamps featuring paintings by children. The 25 paisa stamp showcases a delightful painting titled “CATS,” created by 5-year-old Nikur Dilipbhai Mody, while the 100 paisa stamp features an endearing painting titled “FRIENDS,” crafted by 7-year-old Bhavar Ashish Ramanlal, both hailing from Ahmedabad. These charming artworks have been reproduced with the kind courtesy of Shankar’s International Children’s Competition (1976).
