The International Statistical Institute (ISI) was established in 1855 with the primary goal of ensuring the international comparability of statistical data. Over the years, its objectives have expanded significantly to include promoting the use of statistical methods, training statisticians, and fostering international statistical relations.
Today, the ISI boasts a diverse membership, including three specialized sections, comprising approximately 2000 statisticians from 125 countries. The upcoming session in Delhi is expected to draw around 800 delegates from various parts of the world.
To commemorate this significant occasion, the Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department is pleased to issue a commemorative stamp, recognizing the vital role played by the ISI in advancing the field of statistics and facilitating international collaboration in this important area.
