Apostle of Love, Compassion and Forgiveness
Born on 2 August 1918, Jashan Pahlajrai Vaswani, fondly called “Dada” by millions across the world, was one of the most revered spiritual leaders of modern India. Admired for his non-sectarian and humanitarian outlook, he embodied simplicity, humility, profound wisdom, and an unwavering faith in love as the highest spiritual law. A disciple of his illustrious uncle and mentor Sadhu Vaswani, he carried forward the spiritual flame with a vision deeply rooted in India’s traditions yet universal in its appeal.
Scholar, Scientist, and Seeker
A brilliant student, Dada Vaswani graduated at the top of his class in M.Sc. (Physics) from D.J. Sind College, Karachi. Though a bright academic career lay ahead, he renounced worldly ambition to dedicate his life to service and spirituality under the guidance of Sadhu Vaswani. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, hailed him as “a living example of how the spirit of our ancient traditions can be maintained amidst the challenges of the modern age.”
Teacher, Thinker, and Orator
A gifted orator and thinker, Dada Vaswani mesmerized audiences with his clarity, logic, wit, and compassion. He addressed global forums such as the World Parliament of Religions, the United Nations, the House of Commons, and international universities including Oxford, Chicago, and Kyoto. His words, infused with timeless wisdom, inspired millions across cultures and faiths.
Service and Mission
Under his visionary leadership, the Sadhu Vaswani Mission grew into a world-renowned humanitarian organization, dedicated to education, healthcare, animal welfare, and social service. To his devotees, he was a saint and a guide; yet he humbly called himself “a pilgrim in search of fellow pilgrims.” His life was an expression of service before self and an embodiment of universal love.
Writer and Messenger of Peace
Dada Vaswani authored over 200 books in English and Sindhi, translated into many languages. His writings, songs, and poems conveyed profound spiritual truths in simple words. In recognition of his global humanitarian work, he received several honours, including the U-Thant Peace Award (1998) and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the First World Parliament of Spirituality (2012).
Apostle of Forgiveness
Dada Vaswani strongly believed that “forgiveness is the golden key to peace.” His birthday, 2 August, is observed worldwide as Global Forgiveness Day, when people across nations pause to forgive and send out vibrations of love to humanity.
Eternal Legacy
Dada Vaswani’s earthly journey concluded on 12 July 2018 in Pune, but his legacy of love, compassion, and service continues to illuminate lives through the Mission and the millions touched by his teachings.
