Shri Ram – Dharma Incarnate

In Indian philosophy, dharma represents morals, ethics, and the guiding principles of life. As Maharishi Valmiki described in the Ramayana, Ramo Vigrahavan Dharma (jkeks foxzgoku~ /keZ%) means Shri Ram is the very embodiment of Dharma. His life reflected patience, forgiveness, selflessness, wisdom, and truth—tenets of morality that remain timeless. Shri Ram’s incarnation was not only to defeat evil but also to guide humanity toward righteous living.

Ayodhya – The Sacred Birthplace

The holy city of Ayodhya, on the banks of the Saryu River, is revered as the land of Shri Ram’s childhood and transformation into Maryada Purushottam. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple, rising on this sacred soil, is a unifying symbol of faith for every Indian. Its sculptures, carvings, and spiritual motifs embody the divinity of Shri Ram while rekindling the spiritual energy of Bharat.

Architectural Splendor of the Temple

Constructed under the guidance of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, formed by the Supreme Court in 2019, the temple is a marvel of ancient Nagara-style architecture.

  • Dimensions: 161.75 ft high, 380 ft long, and 249.5 ft wide.
  • Material: Built with 26,500 Pink Bansi Paharpur stones from Rajasthan, crafted to last over a thousand years without using steel.
  • Design: Three floors with 390 intricately carved pillars, five mandaps—Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Gudh Mandap, Kirtan Mandap, and Prarthana Mandap—and the grand Main Shikhar.
  • Craftsmanship: Over 1,500 artisans shaped each stone using advanced CNC technology and traditional hand-finishing.
  • Special Features: Gold-plated teakwood doors, 80,000 sq. ft. of Makrana marble flooring, and more than 10,000 sculpted moortis and themes.

One of the most awe-inspiring features is the Surya Tilak mechanism, devised by the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee. On Ram Navami, a ray of sunlight will illuminate the forehead of Shri Ram’s idol, signifying divine grace.

A Historic Philatelic Tribute

To commemorate the Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple, the Department of Posts proudly releases a Miniature Sheet of six commemorative postage stamps.

  • Printed with water and sand from Ram Janmbhoomi, carrying the sacred essence of the birthplace.
  • Infused with the fragrance of sandalwood, symbolizing purity and divinity.
  • Embellished with gold foiling, radiating the temple’s divine light.

This philatelic issue is not just a tribute to architecture and faith but a spiritual invitation to every devotee to seek Shri Ram’s blessings for a virtuous, blessed, and meaningful life.
