About this stamp
Early Detection Saves Lives
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India, with about two lakh new cases diagnosed every year. Many patients are still identified only at an advanced stage, so awareness, self-examination and community screening are crucial for early detection.
Screening Across India
The Government of India has included breast cancer in population-based screening for common non-communicable diseases. Clinical breast examination is offered at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and community health centres, ASHA workers and ANMs run door-to-door awareness drives, and treatment is provided under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY.
The Department of Posts issued a souvenir sheet of two stamps on Breast Cancer Awareness on 30 October 2026.
