Share your knowledge
Every collector knows something no catalogue does — a postmark, a printing, a story behind a stamp. The Philatelist is kept by collectors, and we would like to publish what you know.
What we publish
- Guides Practical advice from experience: buying, selling, identifying, storing, exhibiting.
- Short stories The people, places and accidents behind a stamp, a cover or a post office.
- Lessons for beginners Clear explanations of one topic, for someone starting out.
- Catalogue corrections A wrong date, a missing printer or quantity, a stamp we have not listed.
What makes a good piece
- Something you know first-hand: your own collection, research or experience.
- Facts you can back up. Tell us your sources — catalogues, archives, India Post notices.
- Plain words. Write for a curious reader, not an expert; the glossary is there for the terms.
- Indian stamps and postal history especially, though good pieces on anything are welcome.
You do not need to send a finished article. A paragraph about your idea is the best place to start.
How it works
- Send us your idea with the form below.
- An editor reads every idea, and replies by email if we would like to take it further.
- We work on the piece together — shaping, checking facts, choosing images.
- It is published under your name, and we agree how you are credited before it goes live.
