How points and awards work

Points show how much a collector has put into The Philatelist and how much other collectors value what they share. You earn them by building your collection, keeping notes, planning exhibits and helping others with their research. Awards mark milestones along the way.

Good to know

  • Points come from what you've done, so everything since you joined counts, not just what you do from now on.
  • Delete something and its points go with it: an album, a note made private, an answer.
  • Albums count up to 10 and collection stamps up to 500, so points reward taking part, not just size.
  • Anyone signed in can vote an answer up. Voting one down needs 50 points and costs you 1, so it's kept for answers that are wrong.
  • The author of an exhibit plan can accept the answer that helped them most. You can't vote on, or earn points for, answers on your own plan.
  • Points show on your profile, in the collectors list and beside your name on answers and comments.
