About this stamp

Bihar Kesari

Sri Krishna Sinha (1887–1961), known as “Bihar Kesari”, the Lion of Bihar, was the first Chief Minister of Bihar. Educated at Monghyr, he began to practise law at Munger in 1915 and left his practice in 1921 to join Gandhi’s non-cooperation movement, and was imprisoned many times in the freedom struggle.

India Post issued eight ₹5 stamps on 26 December 2016 in a Personality Series: Bihar, designed by Nenu Gupta and Alka Sharma and printed by Security Printing Press, Hyderabad, 2 lakh of each. The brochure’s scan is partly illegible, so these texts also draw on Wikipedia.
