About this stamp

Lala Jagat Narain

India Post issued this ₹5 stamp on 9 September 2013 for Lala Jagat Narain (1899–1981), editor, freedom fighter and founder of the Hind Samachar group of newspapers. Born at Wazirabad in Gujranwala district, he left law college in 1920 at Gandhi’s call to join the non-cooperation movement, and was jailed for about nine years in all; in prison he was Lala Lajpat Rai’s secretary. He was a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly and of Parliament.

India Post has no brochure for this issue online, so this text draws on Wikipedia.
