XXVII Olympics
India Post issued four stamps, at ₹3, ₹6, ₹10 and ₹15, on 17 September 2000 for the XXVII Olympics, the Sydney Games, held from 15 September to 1 October 2000: the second Summer Games in Australia, after Melbourne in 1956. At Sydney the weightlifter Karnam Malleswari became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal, India’s only medal of those Games. India Post’s brochure for this issue is not online, so this text draws on Wikipedia and on the stamps themselves.
