The Indian Posts and Telegraphs Department has been commemorating Children’s Day since 1957 with special postage stamps, each focusing on themes related to the care and well-being of children. For the Children’s Day stamp to be released on November 14, 1963, the International Union for Child Welfare, Geneva, recommended the theme “A National Policy for Children.”
In alignment with this idea, and upon the suggestion of the Indian Council for Child Welfare, the Posts and Telegraphs Department has selected the provision of mid-day meals to school-going children as the theme for this year’s Children’s Day stamp. This initiative is part of several schemes aimed at improving the health of children across India.
The Posts and Telegraphs Department is pleased to once again issue a special postage stamp this year, highlighting the importance of child welfare and the initiatives undertaken to ensure the well-being of children.
