About this stamp

On the Stamp

The ₹25 UAE stamp of the India–UAE joint issue shows the flag of the United Arab Emirates beside the logo of the UAE’s Year of the Fiftieth, marking 50 years since the country’s formation in 1971. The words along the foot are the same on both stamps: “Joint celebrations of the year of 50th Anniversary of UAE’s formation and the 75th Anniversary of the Independence of India”.

The Issue

India Post issued the miniature sheet on 18 February 2022, for the joint celebrations of the year of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates and the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. 2022 also marked 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The sheet holds two ₹25 stamps, one for each country, and sold for ₹50; 302,400 of each stamp were printed by offset lithography at the Security Printing Press, Hyderabad. The design is by Paresh Maity.

In July 2022 Emirates Post Group launched the stamps in the UAE, presenting them to India’s Ambassador, Sunjay Sudhir, at its headquarters in Dubai. He called the stamp a testimony to a relationship that goes back centuries, “from the history of spice and pearl trade to today’s world when more than 3.4 million Indians have chosen to live in the UAE.”
