About this stamp
A Joint Celebration
India Post issued the miniature sheet on 18 February 2022, for the joint celebrations of the year of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the United Arab Emirates and the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. 2022 also marked 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The sheet holds two ₹25 stamps, one for each country, and sold for ₹50; 302,400 of each stamp were printed by offset lithography at the Security Printing Press, Hyderabad. The design is by Paresh Maity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, released the joint stamp during their India–UAE Virtual Summit on 18 February 2022, at which the two countries also signed their Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
In July 2022 Emirates Post Group launched the stamps in the UAE, presenting them to India’s Ambassador, Sunjay Sudhir, at its headquarters in Dubai. He called the stamp a testimony to a relationship that goes back centuries, “from the history of spice and pearl trade to today’s world when more than 3.4 million Indians have chosen to live in the UAE.”
On the Sheet
The two stamps sit side by side above a view of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on the left and a white domed palace on the right, joined by a palm tree. The India stamp shows the national flag with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav ‘75’ logo; the UAE stamp shows the flag of the UAE with the logo of its Year of the Fiftieth.
