Children’s Day 2018: Communal Harmony
Since 2015 the Department of Posts has held national stamp design and photography competitions for Independence Day, Children’s Day and Republic Day, and has made stamps from the winning entries. For Children’s Day 2018 the theme was Communal Harmony, chosen to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, for whom harmony between communities was a matter very close to his heart. Schoolchildren entered in two groups by class, and the brochure names three winners and five consolation winners in each; it does not say which entries the two stamps are based on.
The two ₹15 stamps and a ₹30 miniature sheet were issued on 14 November 2018. Anika Singh designed them from the selected entries, and Security Printing Press, Hyderabad printed 5 lakh of each stamp and 1.10 lakh miniature sheets.
