About this stamp

On the Stamp

Two painted dolls carrying baskets on their heads.

Children’s Day 2010

India Post issued four ₹5 stamps and a ₹20 miniature sheet for Children’s Day, 14 November 2010, the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru. The stamps show traditional Indian toys, from dolls and a kite to spinning tops: the simple, handmade playthings of a childhood before electronic games. India Post’s brochure for this issue is not online, so this text draws on Wikipedia and on the stamps themselves.
