About this stamp

On the Stamp

A warship launching a BrahMos missile, with missiles on a mobile launcher and fighter aircraft overhead, on the ₹20 stamp.

BrahMos

India Post issued two stamps, ₹5 and ₹20, and a ₹25 miniature sheet on 22 December 2008 on BrahMos, the supersonic cruise missile developed jointly by India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya. Its name joins those of two rivers, the Brahmaputra and the Moskva. It can be launched from ships, submarines, aircraft and land. India Post’s brochure for this issue is not online, so this text draws on Wikipedia and on the stamps themselves.
