About this stamp

Mahjoor

India Post issued this ₹5 stamp on 25 June 2013 for Peerzada Ghulam Ahmad (1885–1952), the poet of the Kashmir valley known by his pen name Mahjoor and regarded as the father of modern Kashmiri poetry. Born at Mitrigam in Pulwama, he took his pen name while in Punjab under the influence of the Urdu poet Shibli Nomani. He brought a new style into Kashmiri poetry and opened it to themes it had not touched before.

India Post has no brochure for this issue online, so this text draws on Wikipedia.
