About this stamp

Sathya Sai Baba

India Post issued this ₹5 stamp on 23 November 2013, his birthday, for Sathya Sai Baba (1926–2011), the spiritual teacher of Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh. Born Sathyanarayana Raju on 23 November 1926, he declared at fourteen that he was the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba and left home to gather devotees; he founded schools, colleges and hospitals, and in 1995 began a project to bring drinking water to the drought-prone Rayalaseema region.

India Post has no brochure for this issue online, so this text draws on Wikipedia.
