Music, Cinema and Service
Ghanshyam Dass Jain was born in 1925 in Multan. Honoured with the title “Sangeet Samrat”, he published the Ghanshyam Bhajanawali and released devotional albums with HMV and T-Series, and wrote stage plays such as Garib ki Chingariyan.
After losing his wealth during Partition, he rebuilt his life in the wool, textile and film-financing industries and helped rehabilitate displaced people. Through banners such as T. Naveen Pictures and Magnum Films he financed, produced and distributed films ranging from Deewar and Kranti to Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Philanthropy
He donated the earnings from his musical shows to build temples and support hospitals, and founded the Jain Kushal Yuvak Mandal, the Jin Kushal Suri Jain Mahila Mandal and the Sargam Mandal. In 2013 a road in New Delhi was named Shri Ghanshyam Dass Jain Marg in his memory. The Department of Posts issued a commemorative postage stamp on 17 October 2026 to mark his birth centenary.
