About this stamp

The Great Hornbill is one of six stamps on the Flora and Fauna of Arunachal Pradesh souvenir sheet, part of the Arunachal Pradesh Commemorative Postage Stamp Series issued on 17 July 2026.

About the Great Hornbill

The great hornbill (Buceros bicornis) is one of the largest members of the hornbill family, found across the Indian subcontinent and South-East Asia. It is known for the large yellow-and-black casque on top of its bill.

It eats mostly fruit, but also small mammals, reptiles and birds. Because of its size, colour and place in many tribal cultures and rituals, it is the state bird of both Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala. It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2018.
