About this stamp

On the Stamp

The two ₹15 stamps side by side: the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodh Gaya, and the White Horse Temple at Luoyang with its white horse statue.

India–China Joint Issue

India Post and China Post issued two ₹15 stamps together on 11 July 2008, as a se-tenant pair and in a miniature sheet, on two great Buddhist temples: the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodh Gaya, where the Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment, and the White Horse Temple at Luoyang, by tradition the first Buddhist temple in China, founded in 68 AD. India Post’s brochure for this issue is not online, so this text draws on Wikipedia and on the stamps themselves.
