About this stamp

On the Stamp

An archer drawing a bow, drawn as a white pictogram, beside the logo of the Delhi 2010 Games.

The XIX Commonwealth Games

India Post issued four ₹5 stamps and a ₹20 miniature sheet on 3 October 2010, the opening day of the XIX Commonwealth Games in Delhi, held from 3 to 14 October. With 4,352 athletes from 71 Commonwealth nations and dependencies in 272 events across 21 sports, they were the largest Commonwealth Games yet in participation, and the first held in India. The stamps show badminton, archery, hockey and sprinting, with the logo of the Delhi Games. India Post’s brochure for this issue is not online, so this text draws on Wikipedia and on the stamps themselves.
