About this stamp

Sachchidananda Sinha

Dr Sachchidananda Sinha (10 November 1871 – 6 March 1950), born at Arrah, was an eminent parliamentarian, educationist, lawyer and journalist. He campaigned for Bihar to be made a province separate from Bengal, and in December 1946 he presided over the first session of the Constituent Assembly of India as its interim president.

India Post issued eight ₹5 stamps on 26 December 2016 in a Personality Series: Bihar, designed by Nenu Gupta and Alka Sharma and printed by Security Printing Press, Hyderabad, 2 lakh of each. The brochure’s scan is partly illegible, so these texts also draw on Wikipedia.
