About this stamp

On the Stamp

An engraved-style portrait of Mahatma Gandhi in a round frame, the ₹25 stamp of the India–South Africa joint issue of 26 July 2018. It marked the 125th year of the night in June 1893 when Gandhi was thrown off a train at Pietermaritzburg for refusing to leave a first-class carriage, which led him to stay and fight racial discrimination in South Africa.
